This is the diary of my ongoing problems with anal abscesses. I am a 39 year old English woman with a ten month old daughter and Superman for a partner.
Nobody talks openly about having abscesses up their bum and because of that I haven't been able to find any readable resources that aren't aimed at healthcare professionals. This diary is graphic and at times crude. This condition has been too humiliating for me to now care about prettying things up for public consumption, so if you choose to read my diary be warned that I swear a lot and I have developed an obsession with pooing and all its associated problems.
I'm opinionated about the quality of care I've received, and while I have chosen not to name my local authority or the individuals I've been treated by in this forum, I do plan to make my views known to those with the power to effect change (not that I have any faith they might do so).
I was diagnosed on May 2nd, 2008, but did not start writing a proper diary until Thursday 26th June, 2008. For this reason some of the early events may not be described completely accurately, although I have got some recording in my main livejournal to refer back to as I rebuild past events.
